Aug. 13, 2014 - PRLog -- Earlier this month, Carpenters of the Indiana/Kentucky/Ohio Regional Council of Carpenters (IKORCC) volunteered their time and skills to build dressing rooms for Hangers, the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation PTA clothing bank.

Hangers is a nonprofit organization that serves children from preschool through twelfth grade. Students can visit Hangers once per school year and are provided school appropriate clothing, uniforms, shoes, coats, hygiene products and more. Hangers accepts donations of new or gently used clothing and accessories as well as hygiene products.

Hangers director Barry Jones reached out to the IKORCC earlier this summer after the clothing bank moved into a bigger location. “We didn’t have dressing rooms at our new location, and without them, we wouldn’t be able to open our doors before the school year begins,” said Jones. “I contacted Marvin Byrer from Local 224 for assistance, and they very willingly offered to build the dressing rooms in two days. If it wasn’t for them, we may not have been able to be open before the school year starts. I cannot thank them enough for their time and dedication to Hangers.”

All material for the dressing rooms was donated by Scholz Drywall and Knight Lumber, and Local 224 provided the labor and time to complete the project.

For more information about this project, please contact Marvin Byrer of Carpenters Local 224 at mbyrer@ikorcc.com.

The Indiana/Kentucky/Ohio Regional Council of Carpenters represents more than 32,000 professional tradespeople in 43 locals in Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky and parts of West Virginia and Tennessee. A proud affiliate of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters, which has a century-plus tradition of representing the best of the building trades, the council works in partnership with more than 30,000 contractors, helping them find the best possible talent for their projects. The hallmark of the regional council is three-fold: training, professionalism and partnerships for economic development.
