O-rings is also a special type of rubber gasket made of silicone or synthetic rubber that are used for industrial and commercial purposes on pipes and other applications.  These gaskets are robust enough to handle extreme corrosion and are pressure concomitant with gasket applications.  They can also be used with other rubber materials, wood and even metals.  However it is necessary to incorporate a sealant to ensure a solid seal.

Rubber gaskets are designed in such a way so that they can be easily fitted in between two parts of a machine.
