Aug. 12, 2014 - PRLog -- According to the folks at Subaru of Hilton Head, a premier Savannah area Subaru dealer, most of the coastal Georgia and Lowcountry area drivers they see consider Subaru vehicles as the top choice for outdoor enthusiasts. Given the exceptional all-terrain capabilities of the Subaru symmetrical all-wheel drive system it’s no wonder. But Wall Street Journal has recently issued a list of the 15 all-time fastest Subaru models, which puts a new spin on one of the most versatile line-ups in the industry.

While it is agreed that Subaru certainly doesn’t build high-end luxury sport cars, as the WSJ’s Auto Cheat Sheet correctly states, their vehicles are definitely engineered with performance in mind. It is the unique combination of off-road capabilities and track-worthy speed that sets Subaru apart from the competition.

In compiling their list of the 15 all-time fastest Subaru models, WSJ relied on the 0 to 60 acceleration of each model. As a safety measure, Subaru electronically limits the top speeds of their vehicles, so using the acceleration rate was the best available way to assess the fastest vehicles.

Here is the list of the 15 fastest Subaru models published on the WSJ Auto Cheat Sheet:

WR1 – The limited run rally car clocked from 0 to 60 in just 4.3 seconds.
WRX STI S206 – Only available in Japan, it was timed to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds.
Impreza 22B STI – Raced from 0 to 60 in 4.7 seconds.
WRX Special Edition – 0 to 60 acceleration speed of 4.7 seconds.
Impreza 330S – Sprinted to 60 mph in just 4.8 seconds.
WRX STI – 0 to 60 in 4.8 seconds.
WRX –The 2015 edition blasts to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds.
Legacy GT Spec. B – Hits 60 mph in 5.3 seconds.
Impreza WRX Sports Wagon – Delivered a 0 to 60 time of 5.8 seconds.
Legacy 2.5 GT Limited – From 0 to 60 in 5.8 seconds flat.
Forester 2.5 XT – A surprising 0 to 60 time of 6.2 seconds.
BRZ – A newer Subaru model, it races to 60 mph in only 6.4 seconds.
Legacy 3.6R – Provided a 0 to 60 time of 7.1 seconds.
SVX – From the 1990s, clocked from 0 to 60 in 7.3 seconds.
Baja Turbo –This short-lived, unique model took 7.3 seconds to reach 60 mph.

While several of these models have been discontinued, there are still plenty of brand new Subaru models that exhibit the same outstanding blend of performance and versatility. Those interested in learning more should visit Subaru of Hilton Head. Contact their dealership for more information.
