The Arts Center of Coastal Carolina Announces a Line-Up of Five Great Shows for the 2014-15 Season

Aug. 12, 2014 - PRLog -- Drama, laughter, and music is in store for Lowcountry theater-goers as the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina kicks off their 2014-15 season this fall. There’s a stellar line-up of shows planned, and the Opening Event, sponsored by Audi Hilton Head, is planned for Wednesday, October 1.

"This is our first time sponsoring the Arts Center, and we are really looking forward to getting involved this season," said Warner Peacock, CEO of New River Auto Mall. "The arts are a crucial part of our community, and we are happy to support culture in the Lowcountry."

The Arts Center asked everyone on their email list last February to submit a list of their favorite musical and non-musical plays. The five selections featured for the 2014-15 season are the most requested from that survey.

The season will kick off with a production of Harper Lee’s American classic To Kill a Mockingbird, the number one People’s Choice non-musical pick, which will run from September 30 to October 19.

Next up is the number one musical pick, Singin’ in the Rain, based upon the classic motion picture that featured Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds, and Donald O’Connor. Singin’ in the Rain will be staged from December 3 to December 28.

From February 10 to March 1, the Arts Center will stage their own production Ring of Fire: The Music of Johnny Cash, which will feature all of the greatest hits from “The Man in Black” to paint a portrait of this legendary and uniquely American artist.

The Art Center’s popular Plaid Gala, sponsored by Audi Hilton Head, is scheduled to take place in March, although the details have yet to be announced.

The second most requested musical, Gypsy, considered by many to be the greatest American musical of all time, will be presented from April 29 to May 24.

The 2014-15 season will end with a rousing production of a summertime favorite, Xanadu, a delightful musical that theater-goers of all ages are sure to enjoy. Xanadu will play from June 17 to July 26.
