Weathermatic Releases SmartLink Developer APIs

First Commercial Irrigation Management System with Available API Framework

DALLAS - Aug. 12, 2014 - PRLog -- Weathermatic has become the first commercial landscape irrigation technology provider to release an API framework to developers for managing the landscape irrigation system.  Building automation and home automation providers can offer landscape irrigation control through their solutions via the SmartLink RESTful API and a connected SmartLink-enabled SmartLine Controller. SmartLine is the world’s leading weather-based Smart Irrigation control system with more than 200,000 installations.

“As the SmartLink Network has grown, we have had increasing interest from building and home automation providers looking for a smart, cloud-based landscape irrigation system that can be easily integrated into their platforms.   Also, many of our commercial customers are deploying building automation systems across their portfolio and want to be assured that the irrigation system can send alerts on system issues and allow for remote shut down from within the BMS.  This release makes the key features requested by these customers available for integration via API,”said Brandon Lackey, VP Technology and Marketing for Weathermatic.

The SmartLink API enables batch run commands for multiple controllers and multiple sites, remote-on and off, usage, event information, and more.  Controllers equipped with the SLW Weather Sensor provide daily weather information.  Detailed descriptions of plants, soil, slope and head-type are all available.  For documentation, please refer to http://docs.smartlinknetworkv2.apiary.io/.  A Ruby GEM is available on RubyGems.org.  Developers who are interested in integrating SmartLink services into their applications can make a request for access by completing the request form at http://smartlinknetwork.com/developer-apis/.
