IJIS Institute Board and Committee Leadership Changes

Elected and appointed IT industry leaders will help guide the IJIS Institute and its programs

ASHBURN, Va. - Aug. 12, 2014 - PRLog -- The IJIS Institute (http://www.ijis.org)—a nonprofit organization that focuses on mission-critical information sharing for justice, public safety, and homeland security—announces the results of its Board of Directors election and the appointments of three advisory committee chairs.

The annual Board of Directors election, which closed in early July, resulted in the following individuals being elected to a three-year term:

·         George Cruser, General Manager, IBM Global Technology Services,
·         Michael Davis, CEO, Appriss,
·         Michael King, Director of Strategy and Initiatives, Cyber Solutions Division, Northrop Grumman, and
·         David Taylor, Vice President, Government Solutions, Software AG.

Taylor is new to the IJIS Institute’s Board of Directors while Cruser, Davis, and King are returning for a second term.

Other members continuing their terms on the Board are:

·         Robert Kaelin, MTG Management Consultants,
·         John Leonard, Vice President of Sales, MCM Technology,
·         Lew Nelson, Director, Global Law Enforcement Solutions and Industry Solutions, Esri,
·         Joseph D. Rozek, II, Executive Director, Homeland Security and Counterterrorism, Microsoft Corporation,
·         Kay Stephenson, President/CEO, Datamaxx Group, Inc.,
·         Bob Turner, President, CommSys, and
·         David Usery, President/CEO, URL Integration.

The new Board of Directors elected its executive leadership during its first meeting, with Cruser as chairman, Davis as vice-chairman, Rozek as secretary, Stephenson as treasurer, and Taylor as the director-at-large.

In addition to the Board leadership changes, there are four key IJIS Institute advisory committees with newly-appointed chairs:
·         Fred Roesel, business intelligence consultant and business architect at Marquis Software Development Inc., will chair the Corrections Advisory Committee. The committee will help to promote understanding of standards and awareness of technology challenges impacting all areas of corrections.
·         Joseph Wheeler, senior partner and CEO, MTG Management Consulting LLC, will chair the Courts Advisory Committee, ensuring the committee contributes to the advancement of information sharing standards between courts and justice, law enforcement, corrections, health and human services, and other stakeholders.
·         Robert Shumate, member emeritus of the IJIS Institute and former chair of the IJIS Institute’s Procurement Task Force, will now chair the new Procurement Innovation and Interoperability Standards Advisory Committee. The committee will expand on the work of the task force to address issues specific to how government and private industry can more effectively collaborate to drive innovation and fuel change in the procurement process via standards.
·         Eric Tingom, senior consultant for the Tingom Group, will chair the Information Privacy Advisory Committee. The committee will address personal information use by government agencies, institutions, and other justice, public safety, and homeland security entities to ensure that personal information is appropriately collected, used, and disseminated within an integrated information systems environment.

IJIS Institute Executive Director Steve Ambrosini noted, “The mix of institutional experience and new ideas that are represented in this group of new leaders holds a great deal of promise for the IJIS Institute and its growth. I look forward to working with the new Board and Committee leaders knowing the vast amount of experience they each bring to the table and their commitment to the information sharing and safeguarding mission.”
