World Masterwork Series supports Ladies Night Out

BREVARD, N.C. - Aug. 13, 2014 - PRLog -- “I am excited to be one hostess of the first of the two performances this year,” explained Aggie. “The Masterwork Series is wonderful showcase and this year is no exception.  Piano virtuosos Dr. John Cobb and Christopher Tavernier will perform works by three of the most talented composers of the Romantic Age.  I will be hosting the first perforce at the Tryon Fine Arts Center on August 24th.  The performance begins at 3pm and all ticket proceeds are donated to the Mission Foundations Ladies Night Out Program.  Tickets are $8.”

The first piece is ‘Reminiscences of Don Juan’ from Mozart's Opera Don Giovanni as transformed by Franz List.  Next up is Rachmaninoff’s ‘Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini’, a one movement concerto that may be his most popular work for piano and orchestra.  Lastly comes Tchaikovsky's ‘Piano Concerto No.1’ a 38 minute-long concerto that was initially fraught with controversy because of its originality.

The Ladies Night Out is a joint program of Mission Hospital and Buncombe County Health and Human Services that works to ensure that every women has access to a mammogram. The program provides access for underinsured and uninsured women are offered free physicals, mammograms, blood pressure and cholesterol screenings as well as health education every first Thursday evening of each month.
