-- NEWARK, NJ – AUGUST 10, 2014 – Stop Shooting Inc., a Newark based nonprofit, will be accepting school supply donations for the 2014 “Safe Schools Extravaganza”
from August 10th
to September 20th.
Community stakeholders citywide can donate new school supplies and other classroom materials. Students’ wish lists include book bags and basic school supplies, such as paper, crayons, scissors, pencils, pens, glue, markers, folders, and erasers, as well as other items used in classrooms every day, such as tissues and hand sanitizers. For the fourth consecutive year, Stop Shooting is teaming up with a host of community partners to provide thousands of children who would otherwise not have enough sets of school uniforms, book bags, and school supplies to last throughout the year, with a few extra sets. The Safe Schools Extravaganza will feature various family activities centered on preparing students for school, along with a giveaway of school uniforms, book bags, and supplies
“With help from our community, we can all work together to help thousands of Newark students start the school year prepared to succeed.” said Yusef Ismail, executive director of Stop Shooting Inc. "This drive allows many less fortunate children to have essential supplies necessary to be successful in school. Children should have every opportunity to succeed in the classroom, not be held back by circumstances over which they have no control, and the Safe Schools Extravaganza helps to provide those opportunities”
, added Ismail.
Donations can be dropped off to Mr. Fred Ruiz at this year’s hosting site, The Leaguers Inc. (405-425 University Ave) or may be arranged for pick up by calling Yusef Ismail at 973-517-285. For further information, and volunteer opportunities, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
