About Sherman Lake YMCA:
Mission: The Sherman Lake YMCA Outdoor Center, primarily serving the people of Southwest Michigan, is an inclusive organization that strengthens the spirit, mind, and body while instilling an appreciation of our natural environment.
Set in a rural setting of Southwest Michigan between Battle Creek and Kalamazoo, Sherman Lake YMCA Outdoor Center was chartered as an independent YMCA in 1994. Originally founded as a regional Camp and Conference Center, the local community expressed large interest in adding a YMCA wellness membership facility to the site.
Now celebrating their 20th Anniversary, Sherman Lake YMCA serves over 18,000 people each year throughout its many program offerings (Day and Resident Summer Camp programs, Integrated (Character) Education school programs, YMCA membership, and conferences and retreats). The school programs focus on building strong, resilient youth with the core values of Honesty, Caring, Respect and Responsibility. Currently, 50+ schools participate annually in these unique programs at Sherman Lake YMCA. In addition to K-12 school participation, Sherman Lake YMCA has developed a pre-internship program with Olivet College, providing unique classroom management training to their education majors.
Sherman Lake YMCA is 100% accessible to all individuals regardless of physical, mental, or financial limitations. The Sherman Lake YMCA offers financial assistance to community members funded by an Annual Campaign.
