AUSTIN, Texas - Aug. 8, 2014 - PRLog -- IndianEagle.com, a leading US-based online travel agency, has taken on the upcoming developments of India tourism, which is aimed to increase the foreign tourist arrivals in India. The Ministry of Tourism India has outlined several initiatives and spotted out room for execution of the initiatives for the growth of the country’s tourism industry.

Not a single capital city of India could make it to the Mastercard Global Cities Index 2013 whose report was published in July 2014. Indian states and cities are known for their individual culture, history and heritage. India is many times larger than England, Thailand, France, Singapore and Abu Dhabi whose capitals ranked first, second and third in terms of popularity and in number of visits as per the rating from Mastercard Gobal Cities Index.

Among the top twenty cities in the world are eight of the European cities. Thailand whose geography is not as diverse as that of India and whose tourist attractions are not as many as those of India, received 26.7 million of foreign tourist arrivals in 2013. India’s number of foreign tourist arrivals in 2013, that is only 6.97 million, looks pale in contrast to that of Thailand in the same year.

India tourism has experienced slow-paced growth in last three years. Since 2011, the growth has risen by a meager 10.5%. There is no much difference in the index of growth between 2013 and 2012. This grim picture of Indian tourism industry has led Shri Shripad Yesso Naik, the Minister of State for Culture & Tourism, to identify issues and figure out their solutions.

The travel and tourism industry of India has huge potential for growth which is hindered by such possible issues as poor domestic air connectivity, lack of English-speaking trained guides, poor tourism infrastructure, unreasonably priced accommodation, failing security of female tourists and others, detected by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Recently, the Government of India has figured out a number of measures to be undertaken for a considerable development of tourism in the country. The development of low-cost airports, highway & railway infrastructure, hygienic food trails, campaigns for cleanliness, adventure destinations, etc. are among the most important measures. The agenda also includes training of tour guides, easy availability of visa-on-arrival scheme, and improvement of female tourists’ security.

All these moves to be undertaken by the Indian Government are expected to encourage foreign nationals to travel to India. Once the number of foreign tourist arrivals for India holidays has gone up by several leaps, thousands of employment opportunities will be created and the revenue will be multiplied to touch a whopping figure of billions.
