Aug. 7, 2014 - PRLog -- (Chicago, IL)  Several Bronzeville Community Organizations are coming together Friday. August 8, 2014 (11:00 am – 1 :00 pm) at Metropolitan Apostolic Church (The Met), 4100 S. King Drive in Chicago. The event marks the end of several Summer Youth Employment & Enrichment Programs and spreads the word about the unique services that each of the Community Organizations have to offer and is hosted by Academy 41 & the Green Light Movement, whose unique Young Entrepreneur Program—a program that uses hands on business training to provide non-violence alternatives to youth, 16-21 provided youth with the opportunity to learn how to run a business this summer.

Invited Speakers at the event include Ald. Pat Dowell (3), Ald. Walter Burnett (27),  Dr. Leon Finney, Jr., and Ronald Holt.  Other speakers include The Green Light Movement’s founder, rapper/songwriter JNan, Green Light Executive Director Roxanne Burnett,  Center for New Horizons Assistant Program Director Quiana George, Kermit Collins (Center for New Horizons), Bamini Obedele of Harvest Holistic (Greater Harvest MBC) and Phil Jackson of Black Star.

The Rally will be hosted by JNAN with special guest Comedian Damon Williams and the entertainment provided by local artists and Program participants.

Mrs. Wainwright of Harvest Holistic states, " Our people perish for lack of knowledge. The goal of each of the Community Organizations involved is to provide holistic experiences, knowledge, education, enrichment and opportunity to our youth for a brighter future and a better life."

JNan is very proud of the progress that youth are making. “A lot of violence happens due to youth wanting money and popularity,” he points out. “It doesn’t make sense to adults, but that’s what’s happening. These programs are very important. There are so many negative influences. We’re emphasizing ways to be positive in the community and how to give back. The young people participating in the programs are not contributing to violence, but to something positive.
