CAMP HILL, Pa. - Aug. 7, 2014 - PRLog -- The Woods at Cedar Run was abuzz on Monday, Aug. 4, as 102 children participating in the Salvation Army Summer Youth Enrichment Program visited the senior living community in Camp Hill.

“The children brought exuberance, vitality and excitement to our residents,” said Meredith Woods-Brown, Executive Director of The Woods at Cedar Run. “From the moment the children stepped off those three big yellow school buses, you could feel the buzz of energy throughout the community.”

The youths visited and interacted with more than 150 residents at The Woods. Young and old participated in activities such as two-legged races, sack races and other events such as a cupcake decorating contest. The range of the participants spanned from Kindergarten students to a 101-year-old resident.

“We had a great time. The kids were still talking about the experience the next day,” said Jeff Bruce, Youth Program Administrator for the Salvation Army. “We can’t wait until next summer so we can do this all over again.”

“As the buses pulled away with the children waving and shouting, ‘good-bye,’ you could actually see a little sadness and even a few tears in the residents’ eyes,” said Julie Seifried, Activities Coordinator at The Woods. “It was a day that indeed will live long in our memories – a day when a group of children changed the lives of so many with the vibrance, and the hands of friendships they extended.”
