CALACA returns with "Hecho a Mano" to Willo North Gallery

PHOENIX - Aug. 7, 2014 - PRLog -- CALACA in collaboration with Willo North Gallery invites the public to experience “Hecho a Mano” works of Traditional and Contemporary Art as part of CALACA Community Gallery Initiatives.

“Hecho a Mano” presents works of Mexican traditional artists, as well as contemporary local artists. Historically, Mexican artesania (folk art) have traditionally been made for utilitarian purposes, as well as for popular art sake. Influenced from a blend of Indigenous and European techniques and designs, artesania gained popularity at the beginning of the 20th century. Today, artesanos (artists) and their work, have encountered several challenges domestically and internationally. International manufactured products, primarily those made in China, and other similar imitations have flooded the market. Yet artesanos are still creating original pieces and their artesania work is now influencing new artists both in ideas and techniques. Don’t miss this great opportunity to see a wonderful blend of traditional and contemporary art, all in one place.

We invite the public and collectors alike to the opening reception which will be held at Willo North Gallery on First Friday, September 5^th from 6pm until 9pm, come and enjoy great art, music, and hors d’oeuvres and refreshments. Don’t miss this one of a kind exhibition which will be on display from September 5th through September 23rd, 2014.The closing reception will take place on Third Friday, September 19^th from 6pm until 9pm.
