WOU offers special financial incentives and monthly allowances for full-time studies

Aug. 6, 2014 - PRLog -- Students – to the joy of their parents – can now realise their dreams of pursuing a quality degree at a much more affordable cost, owing to Wawasan Open University’s (WOU) recent offering of full-time programmmes and special financial incentives for all.

WOU, as a caring university, is reaching out to families with attractive financial benefits to give more opportunity for students to pursue their study options right in the heart of Penang.

Mindful of the high cost of living, WOU is providing the first 100 students RM100 a month as study allowance (COLA) for up to three years while they pursue their full-time degree. To lower their financial burdens and in further support of the students, WOU is also providing rebates of up to 20% of total tuition fees. The financial relief given to students from WOU for the upcoming September 2014 intake can reach as high as RM10,000!

Tan Kang Wei, who registered for Bachelor of Business (Hons) in Accounting, said, “Without financial help from WOU, it would be very difficult for me to study for a full-time degree. With the money saved on my tuition fees and the monthly pocket money, I am able to pursue my study dream and a career in business accounting.”

The 26-year-old diploma holder works as a technician in a spare-part factory in Butterworth to support himself since his father passed away, and his mother is a full-time homemaker. Tan is happy to receive rebates on his tuition fees along with monthly study allowances of RM3,000 for his three years of study at WOU.

WOU is also planning to introduce two new full-time degree programmes, in Sales and Marketing as well as in Banking and Finance, to add to its Accounting and Management degree. WOU’s full-time Accounting degree is highly recognised by Certified Practising Accountants Australia (CPA Australia), Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW), and Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).

At WOU, students are supported by 24/7 online access to the University’s learning management system, Wawasan2u, and to the rich pool of resources in its digital library. The course lecturers are well-experienced, having refined their skills from teaching the working adults through open distance learning (ODL) and from attending regular capacity building workshops.

Enrolment for full-time study for the September semester is now ongoing. Interested students possessing a minimum of two Principals in STPM/A-Levels or at least five grades B in UEC Senior Middle II or Diploma/Foundation/Matriculation or equivalent qualifications are invited to apply.

Students who grab the opportunity to become the first 100 registrants can enjoy WOU’s welfare scheme of attractive fee rebates and monthly study allowances that will surely relieve them of the financial burdens of higher education.
