By: Heiser Ford Lincoln

MILWAUKEE - Aug. 6, 2014 - PRLog -- Heiser Ford Lincoln will once again prove ‘Anything’s Possible’ by providing a Silver Level sponsorship to “Hooper’s Troopers,” a Walk to Cure Diabetes Milwaukee team.  The walk is set for Saturday, September 13, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Milwaukee County Zoo to benefit the Junior Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).

Team Captain, Kelly Hooper started “Hooper’s Troopers” after her daughter Ali Grace was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in December of 2011.  A second child, her son Tyler, was diagnosed in July 2012.  Comprised of friends and family, they are a Milwaukee walk team dedicated to help JDRF achieve its goal of improving the lives of all people affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D). JDRF accelerates the progress on the most promising opportunities for curing the disease, including better treatment, and prevention efforts along the way.

"It's great to be sponsoring ‘Hooper’s Troopers’ and working together toward such an important goal.  Our team’s efforts will promote awareness of type 1 diabetes while raising funds to advance research," said Chris Meyer, General Manager at Heiser Ford Lincoln.  "By working together locally, we can make a difference for millions of people affected by this disease."

For those interested, there’s still time to help raise funds for “Hooper’s Troopers”.  On Saturday, August 23rd the team will hold a bowling fundraiser called "Strike Out Diabetes" at the Country Lanes Bowling Alley in Franklin, beginning at 11 a.m. For a $30 donation to JDRF attendees will receive 3 games of bowling and lunch.  A silent raffle will also be held. Reserve a spot by emailing the coordinator Kelly Anderson at kellymarieanderson@yahoo.com.

Direct donations to “Hooper’s Troopers” can also be made by visiting: http://www2.jdrf.org/goto/hooperstroopers.

JDRF Statistics:
- 85 percent of those living with type 1 diabetes are adults, most diagnosed as children or teenagers.
- Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that cannot be controlled through diet and/or exercise.
- Insulin is not a cure, it is life support for type 1 diabetics.
- JDRF's Advocacy efforts have raised $1.9 billion so far for type 1 diabetes research.
- JDRF Walks are held in more than 200 cities worldwide. Nearly 900,000 people nationally walked last year and raised $86 million for research toward curing, treating, and preventing T1D and its complications.

About JDRF:
JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research.  It’s goal is to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people's lives and ultimately achieve a world without T1D.  JDRF collaborates with a wide spectrum of partners and is the only organization with the scientific resources, regulatory influence, and a working plan to better treat, prevent, and eventually cure T1D.
