BALTIMORE - Aug. 6, 2014 - PRLog -- Notre Dame of Maryland University is launching a new online graduate certificate in Risk Management that will qualify recipients to become risk managers, risk assessors or risk communicators.

The six-course, 18-credit certificate will take one year to complete. The first course will begin on October 27.  At completion of the program, students will receive a transcript indicating completion of the post-baccalaureate certificate in Risk Management.

Risk management is the practice whereby organizations intentionally manage, assess and communicate about risk. Risk management is about making effective decisions under conditions of uncertainty.

Program director Charles Yoe, Ph.D., a professor of economics, is an internationally recognized authority on risk analysis and brings decades of experience in risk management to bear in designing this curriculum and leading the program. He has developed and delivered made-to-order risk analysis training programs in more than two dozen countries, has trained professionals from over 75 nations, and has worked on dozens of risk assessment projects—primarily in food safety, international trade, and natural and environmental resources.

The author of three texts and numerous articles, he has most recently been working with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to complete a risk assessment on aquatic nuisance species moving between the Great Lakes and Mississippi River basins and with United States Pharmacopeia to rank the risks of multiple ingredient dietary supplements.
