Bridgeriver Advisors Publishes New Video Series Aimed at Helping Women

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich. - Aug. 6, 2014 - PRLog -- According to the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, women live an average of 81 years in America, while men live an average of 76 years. The reality is that on average a woman will end up living for at least another five years after her spouse has passed away. While the couple may have spent decades preparing for retirement and ensuring they had enough money to last the rest of their lives, this may not hold true once a woman’s partner has died. Bridgeriver Advisors has launched a new set of videos that specifically cover this topic, helping women prepare for this drastic financial change now.

“It’s a fact that women live longer, and when they do they will be exposed to unique financial concerns that they never knew would happen,” explains Dan Casey, of Bridgeriver Advisors, located in Bloomfield Hills, Mich. “Everyone plans for their future as a couple, but women need to be prepared for those years where they might be a widow and be taxed as a single person, rather than a couple.”

The new video series, called “Financial Strategies for Women,” is available for viewing free online at the company’s website. The videos explain what happens financially to women whether they are divorced, widowed or single.  The first video covers when a woman becomes a widow, including how she is moved into a different tax bracket. The new tax bracket will drastically change how much in taxes she'll pay each year.  The second video covers the unique options only a widow has with her husband's IRA.  It also covers how to avoid the IRA tax time bomb.  The third video covers Social Security and strategies to increase lifetime benefits.  It ends with a unique strategy for single women that most people don’t know.

The video series helps shed light on the financial issues and unique concerns that face women, as well as how they can best go about planning for this now. Casey has created the videos based on years of experience in working with women who have found themselves in a financial position where they were not prepared.

“Living years beyond your spouse isn’t something that most people want to think about right now,” added Casey. “But it happens and the best thing you can do is take the time right now to be prepared for that financial change. That’s the only way to live through it comfortably.”
