Follow on Google News | Inventory Industry Organizations Create Joint Code of EthicsThe National Inventory Certification Association and The Inventory Institute established a combined Code of Ethics for the asset inventory industry.

October 1st is the date the Inventory Institute has established as their effective date. The four categories reinforce the importance of Professionalism, Integrity, Confidentiality, and Customer Service. Once known as “home inventory” service, the industry has expanded to include proactive asset inventory services for businesses, RVs, motor homes, boats, and more. Expansion of this industry also includes loss inventories to assist homeowners after they experienced a fire, theft, or natural disaster. Hartman concluded, "The Code of Ethics is the backbone of how an industry and its professionals choose to conduct business; these standards will play a guiding role for the individual business owners and also for the two industry-leading organizations as we move forward." To further address the necessity of performing the inventory services according to these established standards of doing business, NICA, the approved education source for the Inventory Institute, is currently creating a Code of Ethics course that will be included in the certification process for all industry professionals who aspire to achieve and renew their Certified Inventory Specialist designation. The newly adopted Code of Ethics, along with itemized descriptions of each key element, will be posted on both organizations' websites, along with detailed descriptions of each. This will establish the best business practices for all independent inventory service business owners and also for the industry as a whole.
