Truck-Themed Excitement Powers Carlisle Truck Nationals Weekend in 2014

CARLISLE, Pa. - Aug. 4, 2014 - PRLog -- Good times and awesome trucks, that is what the Carlisle Truck Nationals and Carlisle Big Rig Show and Shine were all about during event weekend.  The 2014 show, which ran August 1-3 at the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds, saw some 2,000 trucks and tens of thousands of guests walk the massive facility to enjoy nearly 100 years of trucking history; all at Carlisle!

The oldest truck onsite was from 1919 and there were modern rides too.  In between, all makes and eras of trucks were on display.  From minis to big rigs, massive to monster – guests who love trucks, Jeeps, SUVs, etc., had something to enjoy at every turn.  Highlights included the LTAA and RV 4 Wheel Parts of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania spotlighting once more just how simple it is to use LTAA member accessories to transform a standard truck into a show worthy gem.  CustomVan.com also brought back their popular Vanarama display, the swap meet was booming with business as was the Manufacturers Midway.  In addition, the Ram truck brand brought its 2014 Motor Trend Truck of the year; the Ram 1500, to Carlisle for enthusiasts to get a real feel for what makes it simply the best.

Given that so much was going on, it’s impossible to call out every hot aspect of the weekend, but the Big Rig Show and Shine was another great draw.  With trucks cruising in from the region over, the southeast portion of the property hosted over 100 rigs, including Red Giant, the largest street legal rig in the U.S.A., the Pitt Panthers football equipment hauler, a Best-of-Show box truck that earned a 30-foot trophy via Enck’s Trophies, over a dozen car haulers, massive tow trucks, flat beds and more.  These trucks even brought Saturday night to life with a glow show and wrapped their weekend fun with a standalone awards ceremony and parade.

Family fun also took center stage with the Phantom Fun Zone, monster truck rides, shows and more.  There was even a kids’ scavenger hunt on Friday, which saw hundreds of kids traverse the grounds to find specific check points, earn a stamp, then spin a prize wheel for a prize.  As a special surprise, Berg Bikes gave away one of its Jeep-themed pedal bikes to a young enthusiast who enjoyed the day with her family.  Bwana Jim was at Carlisle too and presented his unique brand of wildlife entertainment.   There were two different options to enjoy R/C racing; one was hands on with Horizon Hobby’s and the other was a cool activity to watch with the No Limits R/C Club of Pennsylvania.

There were also multiple competitions onsite.  These included a beauty contest, burnout competition, high and low truck features, drop and drags and more.  Ultimately, truck weekend proved to be exactly what it’s been known as since its inception in 1991 -  a great family friendly event that draws guests of all ages and backgrounds.  Not only were there nearly 100 years of trucks on display, but there were also generations of enthusiasts at the 2014 Carlisle Truck Nationals ranging from newborns to 80+ year olds showing their trucks!
