PRLog - Aug. 3, 2014 - WASHINGTON -- Printing body armor, clothing, weapons, food, and even body parts/skin - 3D printing is changing the manufacturing and engineering world.

The armor being developed for military personel with 3D printers isn't just of the greatest quality created/engineered in recent times, its the greates quality produced in history. The strength and usability of the armor that US troops wear is important not only for their safety but their mental security as well. With increased confidence comes increased productivity and efficiency.

With weapons being 3D printed costs have been cut substantially. Creating a larger production budget, as well as an increased rate of production while keeping the same input of resources that was used prior to generate a larger output. This not only has military leaders excited, but engineers as well. With increased available funds, innovation in areas of further development is seemingly more plausible.

As a food production technology, additive manufacturing equipment to produce food is one of the more exciting breakthroughs for our soldiers. The moral that is seen with better and more personalized meal production for the preferences of the soldiers is a benefit that heavily out weighs the almost non existant cost. Better food equals better performance, and nourishing our soldiers is key.

Medical breakthroughs via additive manufacturing technologies are not only improving the quality of life on the battlefield for the soldier, but off of the battlefield as well. Skin, organs, and other cosmetic breakthroughs in the 3D printing industry is helping repair and replace vital bodily necessities that our soldiers often need in a dire way.
