Kathy Walter, CEO
Kathy has a decade of experience managing IT projects, first as a COBOL programmer in the Utilities industry, then as an IT Project Manager in a variety of website consulting firms and the financial services industry. She also worked for nearly a decade in product management and development as a Technical Product Manager at Instinet Corporation, Associate Brand Manager at Gillette and Proctor & Gamble, and as a Senior Product Manager for Iron Mountain, before branching into Education.
Ms. Walter has a BA in Applied Math from Union College, an MBA From NYU’s Stern School of Business, and a Graduate Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). Kathy has been an ESL Educator at Northeastern University and Cambridge Learning Center; an ESL curriculum consultant with the YearUp program in Boston; and a program developer for several teaching projects in Uganda.
Steven Zimmerman: is Director of the Open School Project. Steve has founded two charter schools in Queens—Our World Neighborhood Charter School, where he served as board chairman for five years and, most recently, Academy of the City Charter School. He was an elementary school teacher in the inner-city of Chicago during the Model Cities Program years and later worked for a number of years in educational publishing, first as a science editor and later as principal of BookLinks, a company that provided ESL, bilingual and design services for US school publishers. Steve’s newest venture is OpenSchool ePortfolio, an authentic assessment tool for 21st century learning.

She has appeared on Good Day New York, WNBC, CNBC, CNN, Fox Business News, Bloomberg, NY1 and WOR Radio discussing tax-related issues. She has interviewed with top financial publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, and Wealth Manager.
Ms. Broderick completed her TV Producer’s Certification at Manhattan Neighborhood Network and launched her own talk/variety show, GingerNewYork. Segments of the show are aired LIVE at the MNN studios and taped at the Gibson Guitar showroom/Rehearsal Studios in New York City.
Broderick is a faculty member of Queens College/CUNY Continuing Education Program. Broderick obtained a B.S. degree in accounting from St. John’s University in New York City and is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the State of New York.
