Successful opening night for The Cupboard Inc. Presents: Oprah Winfrey’s The Color Purple

INDIANAPOLIS - Aug. 2, 2014 - PRLog -- After months of preparation and two fundraiser performances, The Cupboard Inc. Presents: Oprah Winfrey’s The Color Purple had a successful opening night on August 1.

With a packed house in tow, guests were able to participate in a “Purple Carpet Affair” event prior to show time that included appetizers, cake and punch; paparazzi style photos and a live piano player.

“I enjoyed the Purple Carpet Affair, everyone was so attentive and nice. It was a great way to start the show!” said Ann Johnson who was in attendance.

The cast showed excitement prior to show time as Indianapolis was chosen to kickoff the ten-city tour of the production.

“Indianapolis is our home, so there is no better way to kick off the tour than in our city.” said Joyce Licorish, president of The Cupboard Inc. and also stars as Sophia in the show.

Audience members also participated by giving their perspective and feedback of the show.

“I was filled with laughter, tears and hope. I’ve seen this show twice on Broadway and I must admit, it was better.” said Indianapolis native Camea Davis.
