“Stupid ideas are generally underrated, often due to the inclusion of the word ‘stupid’ as the defining modifier. What most people don’t realize, however, is that a ‘stupid’ idea can also be a ‘good’ idea.” commented Addie Singleton, founder of The Kid N’ Ewe.
“A couple months back I was shopping for pants at my local big box store, when a shirt in a neighboring aisle caught my eye,” Addie Singleton continued, between delicate sips from a porcelain mug filled to the brim with juice. “ ‘Why can’t that colorful design of a sunglass wearing, skateboard riding dinosaur be on an adult sized t-shirt?’ I wondered aloud. But then I repeated the question a second time, the words inflected and crescendoing as they escaped my lips, so that those around me knew I was having an epiphany. The next day I went to work.”
“Speaking of big box stores...” Will Pacheco, artists and good friend of Addie Singleton, added, “A couple months back my good friend, Addie Singleton, told me a story about the time he was politely asked to leave a big box store, the result of him shouting incessantly about t-shirts. Naturally, this segwayed into a discussion about ‘stupid’ ideas. So I said to Addie, with whom I am good friends, ‘Take the invention of the windshield wiper, for example. I assume Mary Anderson’s invention was initially regarded as ‘goopy’ (that’s 1903 slang for ‘stupid’) until it was clarified that the item be used on automobiles rather than carriage horses.’ And that was pretty much it, since I was late for work and we didn’t have time to finish our conversation.”
“Thus... The Kid N’ Ewe was born,” Addie Singleton added, four hours deeper into the conversation.
The debut of the Kid N Ewe website is set to be launched September 1, 2014. “In the beginning our characters will be on T-Shirts, which will have limited run collections. We already have pre-orders for our first collection, and this is just from the initial artwork. It’s exciting and we look forward to the first collection, titled ‘Fun Time Buddies’ being released.”
“Outside of our creative efforts, there are a lot of things to handle and take care of. We knew that we needed the right advice and help so we have two great local firms working closely with us: ASG Strategies and Peppermint Media. Peppermint Media has been working on our website development and print/graphic refinements, while ASG Strategies has been working with us on all of our business and marketing plans and strategies.”
More information will be released leading up to the launch of the website.
