Follow on Google News | Champions of Change? Latina Success/Mujeres de Exito ConferenceSAN DIEGO, CA- MANA de San Diego organization announced today that it will be co-hosting its premiere Latina Success/Mujeres de Exito conference for 500 women on October 11, 2014.
This year’s theme of “Champions of Change” will be enhanced by a diverse workshop series from financial literacy to professional development as well as featuring two outstanding Latina speakers: Nancy De Los Santos Reza and Brenda Bazan. Ms. De Los Santos Reza is an award winning producer/writer and author was instrumental in the movie Selena and Mi Familia while Ms. Bazan, is the co-founder of MoolaHoop a crowdfunding platform for women entrepreneurs. This year’s conference exemplifies the significant strides that Latinas are making in education, entertainment, entrepreneurship leadership roles, family and community. Latinas are starting businesses at a record pace, ascending to key leadership positions, and fostering growth in communities across the U.S. By 2018 there will be approximately 12.3 million Hispanic women in the work force. As of 2013, Latinas owned about 1 out of every 10 women-owned businesses; college graduation rates for Latinas have increased faster than any other group of women and from 1996 to 2010, the number of Latina elected officials increased by 105 percent. MANA de San Diego is playing a crucial role in the education and leadership development for Latinas. This year’s conference is the largest gathering of education and leadership development for Latinas. It will be co-sponsored by the SDSU Lambda Theta Alpha sorority and many other community sponsors who also have a goal of enhancing the lives of Latinas through education, leadership and community service.
