Champions of Change? Latina Success/Mujeres de Exito Conference

SAN DIEGO - Aug. 1, 2014 - PRLog -- This year alone, MANA de San Diego has been able to touch the lives of over 1,000 families through its programming and accomplish the mission of empowering Latinas through education, leadership development, community service and advocacy.

This year’s theme of “Champions of Change” will be enhanced by a diverse workshop series from financial literacy to professional development as well as featuring two outstanding Latina speakers: Nancy De Los Santos Reza and Brenda Bazan.  Ms. De Los Santos Reza is an award winning producer/writer and author was instrumental in the movie Selena and Mi Familia while Ms. Bazan, is the co-founder of MoolaHoop a crowdfunding platform for women entrepreneurs.

This year’s conference exemplifies the significant strides that Latinas are making in education, entertainment, entrepreneurship leadership roles, family and community.  Latinas are starting businesses at a record pace, ascending to key leadership positions, and fostering growth in communities across the U.S.   By 2018 there will be approximately 12.3 million Hispanic women in the work force.  As of 2013, Latinas owned about 1 out of every 10 women-owned businesses; college graduation rates for Latinas have increased faster than any other group of women and from 1996 to 2010, the number of Latina elected officials increased by 105 percent.

MANA de San Diego is playing a crucial role in the education and leadership development for Latinas.  Join us as we continue to reach new heights in leadership with the 2014 MANA de San Diego Latina Success/Mujeres de Exito Conference.  This year’s conference is the largest gathering of education and leadership development for Latinas.  It will be co-sponsored by the SDSU Lambda Theta Alpha sorority and many other community sponsors who also have a goal of enhancing the lives of Latinas through education, leadership and community service.

Other distinct features comprise an international mix of professionals and educators. In addition to many opportunities for networking with leaders in business, the program includes workshops in Leadership, Health, Finance, Business, Careers and a special track for Hermanitas and their mentors and mothers.   Additionally, there will be a business expo filled with informational booths and Latina business owners.
