Follow on Google News | Justin Gordon, of Justin Gordon Homes, Interviewed on "Make It Happen With David Lorms"By: Lorms Insurance Services Gordon builds custom homes with each one sporting its own unique floor plan. Gordon is a true friend to the earth and to his community. Each home he builds is Energy Star qualified. "Energy Star really pays for itself," said Gordon. There are solar powered panels in Gordon’s personal home that have cut his electric bills in half. He even drives electric vehicles in his business to visit job sites. When Gordon demolishes an existing home, his team strips the house and donates all reusable material to places like the City of Houston Reuse Program. To date, Justin Gordon Homes has donated 40 tons of reusable materials. "Success is maintaining integrity in everything you do" says Gordon, who lives in the same area where he builds. "I think this community (Oak Forest) is a great place to live and work.” He likes being able to wave to customers, who are also his neighbors, and to have earned a good reputation. For example, when beginning each building project, he sends letters to the surrounding home owners encouraging them to call him personally if they have any negative issues with him or his team, e.g., trash in their yard or unpleasant noise. "I would rather lose money on a project and do it right than lose my good standing here. It pays off in the long run. I am tied to my business and plan on building for another 50 years," said Gordon. Gordon adores his 5 year old daughter (whose custody he shares with his ex wife). "I incorporate my daughter into my daily events. She especially loves riding in the electrical vehicles." Gordon also contributes monetarily to his community. "I want to see the area get better. I like to sponsor and encourage neighborhood events. Stevens Elementary and other schools can use some help.” Gordon paid for new signs for Stevens Elementary and for the baseball field at Frank Black Middle School. He has even adopted the esplanades on Ella and Rosalyn. "We spent about $100,000 to make them shine.” He plans to adopt more esplanades in the future along with building more beautiful homes for folks to enjoy.
