KAHULUI, Hawaii - July 31, 2014 - PRLog -- Emma Spencer Living properties, featuring unique travel experiences with a portfolio that includes vacation rentals in Guatemala, on Oahu and Hawaii Island, announces the promotion of Kelsea Garlich to General Manager of Volcano Village Lodge.

Originally from Indianapolis, Indiana, Garlich first came to Hawaii on a family vacation in 1998, when she fell in love with the Big Island. She moved here immediately after graduation from Indiana University in January 2009, having studied Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management while working at the Bloomington Convention and Visitor's Bureau.

Garlich was an intern at the Kilauea Military Camp in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park in the Food & Beverage Department and began working at the Volcano Village Lodge in October of 2009.

When asked what makes Volcano Village Lodge different from other lodging experiences, Garlich shares, “It is a truly unique property in all aspects. The romantic setting of the rainforest and private guest cottages allow for our guests to submerse themselves into a part of Hawaii that few visitors get to see. The tall Hapu'u ferns surrounding the guest rooms are hundreds of years old and serve as a reminder that Hawaii is full of history. Our Innkeepers are passionate about sharing what we know about the area with our guests so that they can make the most of their time here. It is our goal to have our guests feel like they are a part of our ‘ohana by the time they leave our property - which is something that makes us unique in a state that is filled with large resorts and hotels.”

On Hawaii Island, Emma Spencer Living operates the Volcano Village Lodge, one of the Big Island’s premiere bed and breakfast properties and its sister property – 5th Street Ohana. 5th Street Ohana is a fusion of casual Hawaiian atmosphere with the quality and style of a secluded, small bed and breakfast and provides individual explorers and family escapades a comfortable accommodation close to the popular Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. 5th Street Ohana has been labeled as “The Best Value” for families who want to explore the Big Island.

On Oahu, Emma Spencer Living offers two unique lodging experiences, first at Pineapple Ohana, situated in a quiet neighborhood where the local experience of the 50th state comes alive daily. It's a 10-minute walk to Kailua Town, with Boutique shopping, restaurants & coffee shops; and to Kailua Beach Park, one of the best water-sport beaches on the island. In the right season you can eat from the banana, lime & mango trees. Newly remodeled and furnished, this plantation style house is filled with all the necessary kitchen and bath amenities along with an outdoor grill and seating area. The dining table seats 6 comfortably and the open floor plan allows for conversation wherever you are relaxing. The beach house sleeps 3-4 adults and 2-3 children comfortably. Come join us for your vacation rental experience in Kailua on the island of Oahu, Hawaii.

Also on Oahu is the Kolea Estate, sitting on a double lot and is a fully furnished rental property sleeping up to 16 guests, only a 15 minutes walk to Kailua town and beach. Complete with a sprawling back yard and large pool, guests can prepare their meals in one of two beautiful kitchens or you can dine conveniently at any of the great nearby Kailua restaurants.

In Guatemala, Emma Spencer Living offers La Casa Colibri, 'The Hummingbird House,' which was designed to take in the lake views of Lake Atitlan from every room in the house, cascading down the mountainside with huge amounts of glass framing in the panoramic views and surrounding perfectly cone-shaped volcanoes.

At approximately 5200 feet above sea level, the Lake Atitlan area enjoys year-round spring-like weather, with temperatures remaining relatively constant throughout the year.  Despite the nearly constant temperature, the climate is marked by two distinctive seasons: the rainy season (May to October) and the dry season (November to April).

La Casa Colibri has five luxurious guest rooms each with en-suite bath. Four rooms have spacious balconies overlooking the lake. Two rooms have deep soak tubs with separate showers. The house can accommodate up to 12 people comfortably.
