Fort Bend Symphony Announces New Season and New Director

Season subscriptions now on sale.Special pricing for the 5-concert series is available through August 30.
 
SUGAR LAND, Texas - July 31, 2014 - PRLog -- The Fort Bend Symphony Orchestra (http://www.fbso.org/) has unveiled its 2014-15 season under the direction of new Music Director Dominique Røyem (http://www.dominiqueroyem.com/). The five-concert subscription series, which promises something for young and old as well as an additional performance of the orchestra’s popular Christmas concert, is now on sale with special subscripton pricing available through August 30.

The 2014-15 series includes these concerts:

HauntcertonSunday, October 26, 2014: Spectacularly spooky and exciting music to send a chill down your spine. Costume contest included.

Deck the HallsonSunday, December 7, 2014: Celebrate the season with all your favorite Christmas music - featuring the HBU Schola Cantorum.

Stormy WeatheronSunday, February 22, 2015: Chase the clouds away with electrifying music about storms - including Beethoven’s Sixth Symphony.

On the Trailon Saturday, March 21, 2015: Calling all kids!  Ride along on a musical adventure as we explore storytelling through music at our Children’s Concert.

Fabulous 40’s!onSunday, May 17, 2015: Travel back to the swing era as we tune in to this special radio style concert, and listen to the music and stories of the fabulous 40s.

All concerts begin at 2 p.m. with an additional 7 p.m. concert for Deck the Halls. All concerts, except On the Trail, are at the Stafford Centre, 10505 Cash Road in Stafford. On the Trail is at B.F. Terry High School’s Graeber Auditorium, 5500 Avenue N in Rosenberg. Parking is free at both locations.

New Music Director

Røyem replaces Dr. Héctor Agüero who moved to Oregon. An active guest conductor, she has worked with various ensembles including Kiev’s Ukrainian State Orchestra, Bulgaria’s Plevin Philharmonic, Galveston Symphony, Moores Opera Center, Sugar Land Opera, HBU Opera Theatre and the Houston Civic Orchestra. During the Houston Grand Opera’s past two seasons, she served as music director for its Opera to Go! performances at schools and community centers. Røyem also serves on the Imperial Performing Arts Artistic Advisory Board.

Speaking about her selection as FBSO’s new music director, Røyem said, “FBSO is a vibrant arts organization that is creating wonderful concerts for everyone. I am excited to serve them as music director as we continue to make great art.”

Season Ticket Information

The five-concert series for FBSO’s 2014-15 season is available for new subscribers at a special price of $110 (box seats), $70 (orchestra/mezzanine seats) and $50 (balcony seats). A discount for seniors 55 and over, military and students reduces the five-concert series to $90, $50 and $30 based on seat location. Special pricing is good through August 30 by entering the discount code of “summer.” Children 12 and under are free when accompanied by an adult, but must have a ticket. There is a limit of three children’s tickets per adult.
