July 30, 2014 - PRLog -- ST. CHARLES, IL – July 30, 2014-- On Monday, July 14th, the Ovarian Cancer Symptom Awareness Organization (OCSA) held its 2nd Annual Golf Tournament and Benefit at the Boulder Ridge Country Club in Lake in the Hills. The event was co-chaired by Dr. Cindy Charlier and Dr. Kurt Klepitsch, while Rafer Weigel, ABC7 sports anchor, served as this year’s honorary chairman and emcee. Special guests, ’85 Chicago Bears Super Bowl champions Jim Morrissey and Steve “Mongo” McMichael, both golfed alongside attendees throughout the day. The tournament raised over $18,000 to support the expansion of OCSA’s Veterinary Outreach Program, a unique awareness campaign that builds upon a veterinarian’s role as a public health official and offers each clinic information to share regarding the silent symptoms of ovarian cancer.

OCSA welcomed over 70 golfers for the day’s events which included lunch, dinner, silent and live auctions. After a shotgun start at 12 p.m., guests enjoyed at-hole entertainment including spirits tastings with Blaum Bros. Distilling Co., meet and greets with Mrs. International, Amy Gregorio, and raffles for signed sports memorabilia.

The day ended with dinner and guests learned more about OCSA and Penn Vet Working Dog Center training of Ohlin, the Labrador learning to sniff out ovarian cancer odorants.  In addition to the golf, there were both live and silent auctions, with Greg Dellinger serving as the live auctioneer. Items included Elliott From’s Blackhawks and Walter Payton paintings which raised over $1500, and “The Perfect Shot” bronze sculpture by prolific artist Laran Ghiglieri.
