The Angry Artist is the story of a cute white rabbit named Puff who is at a crossroads in her career as an artist. Frustrated by her lack of instant success, Puff follows various roads that don’t lead to any particular destination, until one day finding her niche as an artist. The story is told within the confines of less than 30 pages, and uses humorous pictures and speech bubbles to reach out to its audience. Illustrated in a colorfully simplistic style, all text in the book is handwritten.
“There was one day about a year ago that I was just so frustrated in my own art career that I started drawing this character that was very cute, yet very irritated, named Puff. Creating her made me laugh out loud and I thought perhaps her story could encourage other artists with some humor,” comments Ashley.
Although not directly intended for children, the book is mild enough for any young reader. Lucas hopes to start a dialogue with The Angry Artist that encourages creatives to share their challenges with one another in a supportive and enriching way.
