PRLog -- An international welding wire manufacturing business was faced with a problem when relocating a plant from the Midwest to South Carolina. The plant’s wastewater had extremely high copper levels and a very low pH level, and required pretreatment prior to being discharged into public sewer systems.
Management was not fond of the idea of having to run and maintain their own physical and chemical wastewater treatment equipment. In addition, they were already running over budget in the construction of the new facility in South Carolina and lacked the capital for investing in a new wastewater treatment plant.

was asked to provide a quote for treating the company’s wastewater at the new facility in South Carolina. After conducting a treatability study of the existing wastewater at the old plant location, WaterProfessionals®
submitted a quote for building a capital purchase wastewater treatment plant, as well as building and running an own-operate wastewater treatment plant.
Management chose the own-operate option, which alleviated the need for capital investment, as well as having to run the new wastewater treatment facility in-house.

obtained all necessary permits, constructed the new wastewater treatment building, installed a 30 gallons per minute wastewater treatment system, and hired two full time licensed operators to run the plant. State-of-the-
art control and data logging capabilities were integrated with sophisticated remote monitoring to assure total compliance with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations 24/7.
In addition to saving on capital expenses, the own-operation contract with WaterProfessionals®
relieves management of the burden of personally ensuring discharged wastewater is in compliance with regulatory guidelines. As part of the own-operate agreement, WaterProfessionals®
routinely collects treated wastewater samples and coordinates with an EPA-approved outside lab for analyses. Required reports are prepared and submitted per local and state statutes.
As a result of the relationship, plant management have zero involvement in wastewater treatment operations and are able to concentrate 100% on manufacturing core products.
