After learning about the business opportunity from his friend Paul Mullins, who purchased the Enviro-Master franchise of Western Dallas/Fort Worth early this year, Omaha natives Mike Whitaker and his wife Michele (photo) attended what they describe as a highly satisfying Discovery Day in Charlotte and met with another franchisee in Charlotte. Although they were not looking for an immediate acquisition, they did not wish to miss out on securing the Omaha territory, which resulted in their franchise purchase from Pat Swisher, President and CEO of Charlotte, NC-based Enviro-Master and considered to be the founder of the Hygiene Industry. Enviro-Master will serve businesses and organizations throughout the Omaha-Lincoln Metropolitan area, as well as Fremont and Council Bluffs, Iowa. They expect to start in early 2015.

Mike Whitaker is the owner and senior consultant for DETEK Consulting, Inc., where he has been self-employed as a Healthcare IT consultant for almost 20 years. Prior to his entrepreneurial venture, Mr. Whitaker worked for seven years in the healthcare industry as a medical technologist in a hospital laboratory and in a hospital IT. Mike earned his Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from Creighton University and his Master of Science in Management Information Systems from Bellevue University. Michele Whitaker is vice president of DETEK Consulting, Inc., where she manages all accounting responsibilities. Michele earned her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Missouri Western State University in 1992. Michele is also Administrative Assistant in the Development Office of Mount Michael Benedictine High School, where she creates budgets and performs tracking, reporting and communications. Together, Mike and Michele co-founded Mission Omaha Foundation, Inc. six years ago, which is a non-profit organization that brings youth groups from across the country to the Omaha area to work on homes for elderly, disabled and low income residents. Work ranging from painting, repairs, decks and wheelchair ramps has been performed on 144 homes to date. The next project is scheduled for the summer of 2016.
