2012 World Fantasy Artist of the Year, John Coulthart, designs logo for YA fantasy series

LONDON - July 28, 2014 - PRLog -- English graphic artist, John Coulthart, the 2102 World Fantasy Artist of the Year, has teamed up with English author Brendan Murphy to design the logo for the author's six-book YA fantasy series, entitled Sebastian and the Hibernauts. Coulthart, who is a regular collaborator with Alan Moore and whose work is heavily inspired by HP Lovecraft, turned to Celtic mythology for the design. The series explores the psychological and moral landscape of a troubled boy turning teenager and is both an homage to Celtic mythology and an allegory of the Troubles in Ireland. In the first instalment, Beyond the Gloaming, a cowardly Yorkshire boy must brave the ghostly Gloaming if he is to save the Celtic dreamworld of his ancestors. The book introduces Hibercadia, a world brimful of hunkypunks and gobbleratches, quizzing glasses and shillelaghs, mechanical fireworks and night rainbows, tragedy and joy.
