CHESTERFIELD, Mo. - July 28, 2014 - PRLog -- The Children's Illustrated Art Museum will open its newest exhibit entitled "All Aboard: Now and Then" on Sat., Aug. 9. The exhibit will highlight interactive displays featuring trains and their importance throughout history. The Museum, which is located at 231c Chesterfield Mall on the second floor near Macy's department store, is open to the public 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wed. through Sun.

The exhibit includes a 40' long wooden train custom-made by Home Depot; more than 80 cars and engines on display; an 8' X 11' running train display provided by Trains Across America, a mobile travelling train specialty company located in St. Peters; a 56-square-foot Thomas the Train hands-on exhibit; children's books featuring work by St. Louis artists Richard Bernal, Patricia McKissack, and David Montgomery, and; a pictorial Forney display and a pictorial Pullman Palace Car Company display. This exhibit is in collaboration with Amtrak, Chesterfield Mall, Home Depot, and Union Station and with the support of the Museum of Transportation.

"Trains played a large role in our society's development, and this is a wonderful way to educate both children and adults about its long-reaching effects," said the Museum's Executive Director Jeanne Johnston. "The community's support allowed us to create this display, so we hope everyone takes advantage of the opportunity to learn something new about this transportation."

The Children's Illustrated Art Museum is a non-profit organization designed to inspire children to read and learn through art. The train exhibit is $5 per person and $10 per family. There also are educational opportunities available for class field trips and private organizations, and Mon. and Tues. are devoted to nursing home tours.
