Gov't News: NATO Gets New Leader in Afghanistan and NNSA Appoints a No. 2

The website published a number of stories this week including pieces about a new miltary commander of NATO forces in Afghanistan and a new leader at the NNSA.

Gen. John Campbell has become the NATO International Security Assistance Force commander in Afghanistan.

He succeeds U.S. Marine Corps Gen. Joseph Dunford, who recently received confirmation as the Marines’ 36th commandant.

Gen. Dan Allyn, commanding general of the Army Forces Command, will replace Campbell as the Army vice chief of staff.

Madelyn Creedon, formerly assistant defense secretary for global strategic affairs, has received Senate confirmation to be the National Nuclear Security Administration deputy administrator.

The station reports that in her new role, Creedon will coordinate with NNSA Administrator Frank Klotz to help the federal government address nuclear security issues.

She previously counseled Democratic staff on the Senate Armed Services Committee and led the panel’s strategic forces subcommittee in promoting nonproliferation programs.
