New Events at Petoskey's Festival on the Bay

PETOSKEY, Mich. - July 27, 2014 - PRLog -- Petoskey's Festival on the Bay will be held Thursday, August 14 through Sunday, August 17, and there are some great new events this year for festival-goers of all ages.

On Thursday, August 14, Blissfest Music Organization is sponsoring a new Family Night featuring the energetic Harbor Hoedown band and country dancing with a caller giving instructions to families.

“Etta's food truck will be selling down-home cooking and there will be games in the ball field for everyone to play,” stated Johnnie Walker, Co-Coordinator of Festival on the Bay. “This new alcohol-free family-friendly event is only $5.00 per family!”


Another new event for 2014 is the BBQ on the Bay Competition on Saturday, August 16. The event will feature an amateur rib grilling competition with amazing prizes. If you want to compete, the deadline for competitors is Friday, August 8 by noon and entry forms can be found on the festival website.

“There will be a public tasting and voting event from noon to 3:00 p.m on Saturday,” stated Walker. “The cost per punch card is $5.00 so we invite the public to come vote for the best Rib-Grilling Master in Petoskey!”

The new BBQ on the Bay event is sponsored by Brown Motors and Pigs Eatin' Ribs with prizes donated by Meyer Ace Hardware and Maxwell Brothers Cycle Shop.


There will be events just for Teens on both Friday and Saturday nights which will be hosted by WKHQ radio jocks Scotty and Jeff. The Friday Night Band Jam will feature some great local bands and Saturday night is the popular Club Electro Sunset Dance Party with DJ DomNom and DJ Bill Da Cat.

“Festival teen events are for current high school students in a safe, drug-free zone and entry is $5.00 per night,” said Marcie Wolf, Co-Coordinator of Festival on the Bay. “Teens will love the high-energy music and the YMCA will be providing chaperones for each event.”

Verizon Wireless is sponsoring a new Promenade Music Tent which will feature local musicians and demos of tech products by the team from the local Verizon store with a new location on Spring Street.

“The  new Verizon tent will add more music and activities to our midway alongside the food and retail vendors,” stated Wolf. “The Verizon team will be sharing fun apps for kids and popular products like blue-tooth sound systems.”
