Quassy 5K Charity Fundraiser Registration Is Open

MIDDLEBURY, Conn. - July 25, 2014 - PRLog -- MIDDLEBURY, Conn. – Local and area charitable organizations will be the beneficiaries of a 5K run slated for Saturday, Sept. 27, at Quassy Amusement & Waterpark here.

 The Quassy 5K Charity Fundraiser will support not-for-profit groups which pre-register for the event at the lakeside property. Participating organizations will be asked to assist the 5K by providing volunteers to help with race registration, course set-up and post-race games.

 For each race participate who registers under a charity’s name, the organization will receive $10. Legal organizations may call the Quassy office at 203-758-2913 for more information or to register as a beneficiary.

 Runners may pre-register for the race now for $20 each at an online site. Registration the day of the event is $25. Each paid registrant under the age of 21 will receive an all-day Quassy ride pass valid on race day. Those 21 years of age and older will receive a voucher valid for one souvenir glass of beer at the park’s OKTOBERFEST.

 The 5K race will be part of Quassy’s 23rd Annual OKTOBERFEST weekend Sept. 27 & 28, which features live music, German food and dancers.

Additional Funds For Organizations

 Family and friends of participating runners may also purchase discount ride passes for $10 each, valid on race day. For every ride pass purchased on the pre-registration Web site, $5 will be bounded back to the named charity.

Fun Race

 Participants of any age may participate in a “poker run” during the 5K. Five locations along the course will hand out playing cards to runners. The runner with the best hand at the end of the race will receive a prize. In addition, the top three winners in each division – 14 and under; 15-20; 21-40; 41 and older; runners weighing 200 pounds or more -  will also receive prizes.

 Sept. 27 schedule:

•          10 a.m. – Quassy 5K Charity Fundraiser registration

•          Noon – 5K run starts

•          12:30 p.m. – Joe Stanky and The Cadets band in the OKTOBERFEST pavilion

•          2 p.m. – Race Awards

•          2:15 p.m.- Family games registration

•          4:30 p.m. – Games awards

About Quassy

 Quassy Amusement Park & Waterpark is in its 106th year and features more than two-dozen rides and attractions. The lakeside property is also home to “Splash Away Bay” waterpark with the new “BulletBowl” water raft ride and “FreeFall” extreme body slides.
