“We are thrilled to learn that all of our hard work and efforts to drive tickets sales have paid off,” said Bill Blumenreich, CEO and owner of The Wilbur. “It is an honor to not only be named one of the top theatres in the country, but in the world. We want to continue to bring in the top entertainment and performances to the city of Boston, combined with an unforgettable theatre experience. With that goal in mind, it is The Wilbur’s hopes to only continue to drive forth our sales,” explained Blumenreich.
The Wilbur was built in 1914 by the Shubert Brothers who named it for their friend and theatre manager A.L. Wilbur. Over its 100-year history, The Wilbur has hosted many pre-Broadway world premiers, among them "Our Town," "A Streetcar Named Desire," "The Miracle Worker," and "Long Day's Journey Into Night."
