Attention Quilters - Call to Action!

Quilt donations needed to aid recent Nebraska tornado victims

OMAHA, Neb. - July 25, 2014 - PRLog -- AccuQuilt, Quilts of Compassion, and the Omaha Modern Quilt Guild have partnered up to run a state-wide quilt drive for victims of the recent tornados in Beaver Crossing, NE and the Pilger, NE area. Dubbed the Quilts of Compassion Disaster Relief Response Team, they are asking the quilting community to help in the recovery by donating quilts.

Quilt donations needed include those of all sizes and for men, women, children, and infants. Quilts, tied blankets, or crocheted Afghans are all welcome. These quilts offer warmth and hope to the families who have lost everything in the violent storms.

All quilt and blanket donations are delivered directly to those impacted. Many Nebraska families in the Beaver Crossing and Pilger area have lost their homes, all of their possessions, and places of employment. They have been injured or lost family members and friends. Recovery will be long and arduous.

AccuQuilt and the Quilts of Compassion Disaster Response Team are dedicated to rallying the quilting community to offer assistance to these survivors in a way that will uplift their spirits. Giving victims a quilt of their own is a meaningful way to show love, support, and to, “bring hope and encouragement to the hurting.”

To date, Quilts of Compassion has delivered over 15,000 quilts to communities in need across the nation.

The first scheduled Nebraska deployment of donated quilts is set for August 12 – 17. Please send quilt donations to the following address:
