Phoenix Finance Firm Recognizes Two Inspiring ASU Students with Merit Scholarships

PHOENIX - July 24, 2014 - PRLog -- FSW Funding, a Phoenix-based factor financing company, has selected two ASU students for its 2014 scholarship awards. Joshua Watson was awarded the FSW Funding Entrepreneurial scholarship and Ema Shqalsi will receive the FSW Funding STEM Scholarship. Both scholarship recipients are recognized for their outstanding achievements and will be given $1500 for the 2014/2015 academic year.

“Both scholarships encourage students to think outside of the box,” said Robyn Barrett, founder and managing member of FSW Funding,  “It is through the creation of new ideas that we see businesses and ultimately the creation of new jobs.”

The FSW Entrepreneurial Scholarship, now in its fifth year, recognizes students for embracing and demonstrating an entrepreneurial spirit. Watson is a Phoenix native who completed his Bachelor’s at ASU and is currently a graduate student at the university. He is also the founder of Project 12M, a socially conscious start-up focused on finding solutions to lower student loan debt.

The STEM Scholarship was established this year to recognize and encourage female students pursuing a degree in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math. Shqalsi grew up in Scottsdale and will be entering her second year at ASU where she is pursuing a degree in architecture and civil engineering. Shqalsi has a passion for improving the lives of others and believes that she can make an impact designing living spaces that will be sustainable for generations to come.

“These students are excelling in the classroom, but more importantly they are looking at how they can make an impact on our community,” added Barrett.
