Daniel Levine: The “Healthier” Food trend keeps going

The trends expert is seeing a rise in foods that are idealized for healthy properties

PRLog - July 24, 2014 - NEW YORK -- Daniel Levine, the noted trends expert and keynote speaker, is seeing a rise in foods that are coveted for their health benefits.

“There has been an increase in what people are hoping to get out of their foods,” says Levine. “People are trying new products all of the time to replace missing nutrients and find new health benefits.”

There are new fad foods all of the time. Right now, quinoa is highly-prized for its lack of gluten. Kombucha, a fungal tea, is sought after for its supposed healing qualities. Pomegranates, kale, brussels sprouts, and blueberries have also had recent attention for improved health, especially for supposed cancer-fighting properties. Omega-3 is very desired right now, and consumers are seeking out fish oils, including those mixed into juices and other products. Bugs are starting to come to the forefront because of their sustainability potential and high quantities of protein.

“This trend reflects deep-down insecurities about healthy living,” says Daniel Levine. “We all want to live long, healthy lives. But there’s only so much any of us can do to assure ourselves about longevity. The quest for super foods reflects an optimism about living that few other indicators can match.”
