Follow on Google News | European Commission Approves to Expand Permitted Use of Nickel under Toy Safety DirectiveThe Toy Safety Directive 2009/48/EC has recently been amended to include the permitted use of nickel in toy components intended to conduct an electric current. The new Directive will take effect on 1 July 2015.
Toy Safety Directive – Use of Nickel On 1 July 2014, Directive 2014/84/EU was published in the OJEU to permit the use of nickel in toy components which are intended to conduct an electric current (3). To accommodate the new permitted use of nickel as a CMR 2 substance, Member States must transpose the Directive into their National Laws by 1 July 2015; the date of enforcement of the new Directive.
