Pressler says court cases show need to clarify Obamacare

July 23, 2014 - PRLog -- Sioux Falls, SD, July 23 2014 – “The next new United States Senator from South Dakota will have to begin working on fixing and improving Obamacare. The two appellate court cases yesterday illustrate the need for clarifying the law,” said Senator Pressler today. Pressler is an advocate of carefully going through the law and ‘fixing it’ and ‘perfecting it.’ These legislative terms are used to describe the legislation after every major bill passes.

“There was so much contention in passing this legislation that a lot was left to regulation writers and courts to clarify later,” said Senator Pressler. “And since the law was passed, there has been constant litigation, efforts to repeal, and efforts to sabotage this law. It is the law of the land and will remain so, and therefore I will go to Washington to work with President Obama and Republicans and Democrats to help clarify and fix it.” Pressler said that Congress must go through and make clarion-crystal clear the intent of Congress. This will lessen future lawsuits, and it may resolve some present lawsuits.

“The hard day-to-day work of a United States Senator is frequently oversight hearings and legislation, which is sometimes called ‘perfecting legislation.’ This is the hard, tedious work that Congress should be doing more often. I did it in regards to the Communications Act of ’96 as well as several other pieces of legislation I passed.”

“The next Senator from South Dakota will not be able to repeal Obamacare, so we might as well get to work and fix this as best we can. The Affordable Care Act is good for most South Dakotans. I support Obamacare and will work to improve it,” Pressler said.
