PRLog - July 22, 2014 - NAPLES, Fla. -- Nina Harkness has released her latest novel, The Jewel Daughters, in the historical fiction genre with 62,000 words. It’s available through Amazon Kindle as an e-book for $2.99 and in paperback from Pothi.com in India for Rs.500.
The Jewel Daughters
The tale will transport readers back in time to the days of British Empire in India, a period of drama, intrigue and rampant racism. Three sisters, Sapphire, Ruby and Pearl are born out of wedlock to a Scottish tea planter, Gerard and his mistress, a local woman, Cara. Amid rumblings of World War Two, implicated in murder and corruption, Gerard abandons Cara and his three daughters in India and returns to Scotland.
The three girls struggle for acceptance and a life in which they are free of social stigma. Beautiful and exotic, they each take different paths to happiness. Horizons beckon, times change: and each of the Jewel Daughters finds her own special place in the world. Gerard, meanwhile, marches to a different drum, till he finds his fate and eventual happiness where he least expected it.
Harkness is a resident of Naples, Florida. She has written two novels, “A Sahib’s Daughter” and “The Jewel Daughters.” Both novels draw from Nina’s personal experience of tea plantation society and the conflicts that arose from the emerging Anglo Indian culture following the end of the Raj.
