WHEN: Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at 1 p.m.
WHERE: Center Court of the Savannah Mall
NOTES: After the storytime, we will examine how Glasswing Butterflies take on the color of their surroundings and we will recreate a migration of Monarch Butterflies. Music and singing will also be part of the activities.
RSVP: N/A

Glasswing Facts:
Although Claire (in the story) is a make-believe butterfly, Glasswings exist in real life. They are very hard to spot and are almost invisible, because they lack the colored scales which give other butterflies their brilliant hues and patterns.
Various species can be found in Central and South America, where they are affectionately called Espejitos or “Little Mirrors.” Although Glasswings look fragile, their wings are strong and they are able to migrate long distances.

Monarch Facts:
Monarchs do not fly in flocks like birds do. Each butterfly flies alone, but travels the same route as lots of other monarchs. There may be thousands flying at the same time. When the butterflies land to rest or eat, this can be an amazing sight. Monarchs can migrate as far as 2,000 miles.
In the story Butterfly Tree a young girl is frightened by what looks like an orange cloud. What will she find when she goes searching?
