GARLAND, Texas - July 22, 2014 - PRLog -- New water restrictions in California and Texas are making landscape irrigation a challenge.  Under new restrictions, many homeowners and commercial properties will only be allowed to irrigate landscapes once every two weeks.  To comply with these restrictions, older irrigation controllers can no longer operate on an automated schedule and will have to be run manually. Many newer controllers can be programmed to run every 14 days, but will need to be re-programmed regularly to continue running on the permitted watering day, as the interval will fluctuate based on days per month. Re-programming will add a considerable amount of work in order to remain compliant and avoid fines.

Weathermatic, the leader and pioneer in smart irrigation control, markets an EPA WaterSense approved smart controller that makes compliance with these restrictions simple. The ability to omit up to 15 different dates allows the SmartLine controller to be programmed for a specific day of the week then omit the dates that are not allowable per the current restriction. This programming helps keep the controller compliant for 6 months before needing to reset the omitted dates.   When adding Weathermatic SmartLink for web-based control, these restrictions can be managed remotely via the company’s cloud-based web application.

The SmartLine controller was the first ET-based smart irrigation control system on the market in 2001 and continues to be the market leader, with more than 200,000 installed in over 85 countries. The SmartLine control system is rated as a Consumer’s Digest Best Buy and has been the irrigation system of choice on many high profile properties including the AT&T Dallas Cowboys Stadium, Clemson University and the residence of former US President George W. Bush.

Homeowners and commercial property owners who manage their irrigation system personally will benefit from the simplicity of programming the SmartLine controller, while those who hire a contractor should see a cost savings as their contractor can make fewer trips to program the controller, minimizing fuel and labor costs.
