CHEYENNE, Wyo. - July 22, 2014 - PRLog -- OutdoorGearLab.com, a well-known gear review website has recently released a new review of top bicycle lights. This review included twenty of the bike industries best lighting product options available on the market today such as, Cygolite, NiteRider and Light and Motion. The Review Editor team consisting of three reputable gear reviewers, Chris McNamara, Randy Spurrier and Max Neale, tested these products in the field and in the lab as well, for over a year. Testing involved over 1,000 miles of riding on trails, busy streets and desolate back roads in order to determine which products were the best overall, the best at a specific application and the most economical purchasing choice. Each product was scored according to how well it did or did not perform during the testing. The testing team provided the most rigorous challenges they could muster with regards to battery life, beam quality and portability. The following products excelled above the rest and were awarded Editors’ Choice, Top Pick and Best Buy accordingly.

The Editors’ Choice award goes to a product called the Cygolite Expillion 800. According to the review team, the Cygloite had an impressive beam quality which tended to be wider than most of its competitors. The review team also notes that this wide beam pattern comfortably sent light even to the edges of their peripheral vision, which was nice. The Cygolite also excelled in the area of beam distance. Its beam distance measured an impressive 160 meters, which was more than most of its competition. They also picked this product because it sells for a fair price.

The OutdoorGearLab testing team chose two Top Pick award winners, each one because it excells at a certain application. The two winners of the Top Pick award were given to the products, NiteRider Pro 1800 and the Light and Motion Vis 360+.

According the testing team the NiteRider Pro 1800 was the best bike light tested for mountain biking. The reason for this is because the Pro 1800 received the highest score of all twenty of the bike lights tested in this review. It received 10 out of 10 scores for both brightness and beam pattern and it also scored well for battery life. The review team would like to point out though that this particular light is not recommended for use as a commuter light because it is particularly large, heavy and not very simple to install.

The Light and Motion Vis 360+ was reported by the testing team to be a potential game changer with regards to design. The Vis 360+ features a spotlight mounted to the front of the helmet, which enables the wearer to point the light where they need it most while riding. The Vis 360+ also comes with two side lights which are amber in color and a red tail light in the back that can be turned on or off as needed. Its battery life was pretty great as well, scoring the second highest score of all the lights tested. The Vis 360+ is highly recommended by the review team for commuting because of its unique design, which allowed for the most feelings of safety while doing so.

The Best Buy award winner is the Cygolite Metro 360 for being the best scoring light in the review priced under $60. The Metro 360 received an impressive score for brightness and shines far, but the team of review Editors’ would like to mention that this product has a very narrow beam pattern.
