“This show is too good to not go on the road. There is a great amount of talent that makes up this cast.” said Joyce Licorish, president of The Cupboard Inc. and also stars as Sophia in the show.
The cast have been busy all summer preparing for the ten city tour and also performing fundraiser shows to help support the touring efforts. The fundraiser shows includes “Motown & Beyond” where the cast reprised some of Motown’s most classic hits on June 29th and “Broadway in Black” which opens July 27th where the cast will reprise some of Broadway’s most beloved shows.
“The fundraiser shows all goes towards our touring efforts and also our organization as a whole as we continue our mission for launching our mobile food pantry this fall.” said Licorish.
The organization is also proud their rendition of Oprah Winfrey’s The Color Purple has been named “2014 Best of Indy Honoree” by NUVO newspaper. The honor comes as no surprise as audience reviews and support have been substantial since closing the first run this past winter.
The Cupboard is excited to do three final performances in Indianapolis before hitting the road completely to tour.
“Indianapolis is our home and we brought this show back by popular demand so we are very excited to choose our hometown as the kick off city for the tour.” said Licorish.
