BANGALORE, India - July 21, 2014 - PRLog -- The dominance of the agriculture sector over the Indian Economy over the ages reflects the stronghold of this sector in supporting livelihoods. One of the greatest contributors to the country’s GDP, this sector has generated sustainable employment for a vast section of rural youth. At present India is the second best country in terms of agricultural productivity. Centre for Emerging Technologies, Jain University introduces one such exclusive programme M.Tech. in Food Technology. This latest venture of Jain University focuses on nurturing manpower with practical, technical, managerial and entrepreneurial skills required for food industry. The course offers complete practical exposure to research level laboratories funded by Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MOFPI), Govt. of India. Faculties with doctorates from reputed institutions such as CFTRI, IITs offer expert advice and guidance to students for industry training / internship.

Since this is still an emerging sector there are plenty of employment opportunities available in Food Technology. Interesting to intense the job roles in this field are challenging and fascinating. Some of the career choices that can be opted for are Quality Control Supervisor, Food Analyst, Food Process Engineer, Food Regulatory Affairs Specialist, Product Development Manager / Specialist, Sensory Scientist, Food Ingredient Manager, Food Microbiologist, Food Chemist, Nutrition Specialist, Fermentation Scientist / Engineer, Entrepreneur, Research Scientist, Retail or Supply Chain Manager.

The eligibility criteria for this course is a BE / B.Tech., Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering and any other Bio or Chemical or Food related 4 year Technology / Science programme. Students with a degree in B.Sc. Agriculture, B. V. Sc. and M.Sc. any branch of Life Sciences or Chemical Sciences are also eligible to apply for the course.

The last date to apply for this course is 25 July 2014.

Students are required to undertake an entrance test in order to qualify for the course. The test will be conducted at Jain University, School of Graduate Studies, J C Road campus on 27 July 2014.
