PRLog - Jul. 19, 2014 - BUEA, Cameroon -- Saint Monica University (SMU): The American International University and Astrakhan State Technical University (ASTU), today announced that they have reached a cooperation agreement that will enable them conduct and share scientific research through academic mobility programs as well as better train their students especially at the Master’s and Doctoral levels.
“As a young university, Saint Monica University will benefit from the resources and experience of Astrakhan State Technical University, a Russian state-owned university that has been in existence since 1930,” said Professor Januarius J. Asongu, President and Chief Executive Officer of SMU. “Given the focus on technology at ASTU, this partnership will be particularly beneficial to our science, engineering and technology students, especially those studying at the graduate levels, who will have the opportunity to travel to Russia for their research. However, the cooperation agreement extends to all schools of the university.”
In order to prepare SMU students and faculty to make the best of this opportunity, SMU will establish a Center for Russian Studies at the SMU campus in Buea. The Center will be directed by a leading Russian scholar and former professor at ASTU, Professor Rafael Bisaliev, Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs at SMU. It will be open to SMU students and faculty as well as to the outside community and will teach Russian language and culture and prepare scientists for further studies or research at ASTU in Astrakhan, Russia.
“We’re delighted to welcome Saint Monica University into our network of partner universities,”
