The Other Half to Getting Hired

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - July 19, 2014 - PRLog -- Resumes and Cover letters are great tools to opening doors, but what happens after you get in? How do you secure the interview? Fast rewind before the resume and cover letter and let’s get to the core, ‘preparation.’ It makes no sense to get this far in the hiring process and not seal the deal with a killer interview. After all, you earned this opportunity.

As stated in earlier posts, it is so important to practice before you interview. You can think of it as studying before the test. If you are prepared it’s easy and if you are not, the opportunity is thrown in the air and where ever it lands who knows. Not a good feeling.

☑ Preparation
If you haven’t hired a career coach, you should. But another alternative is to invest in books that specialize in the interviewing process. This allows one to get familiar and become a little comfortable with possible questions that may be asked.

☑ Presentation
Answer questions in full sentences and follow it up with an example.

☑ Body Language
Stay poised, strong eye contact, and smile after you successfully answered the question.

There, if all goes well which it will, you will have the hiring manager calling you in no time.
